Preparing Future Leaders
College brothers were always provided an opportunity to lead. Brother Tillman continues to cultivate and grow emerging leaders. From guest speakers at college brother retreats, bonding activities at sports-themed restaurants, and a continuing emphasis on scholastic achievement, resources were allocated to support our collegiate members so they could focus on promoting brotherhood and academic excellence.
The 2007 Midwestern Region College Brothers Retreat was hosted by the Alpha Eta chapter on October 12-13, 2007 at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. College brothers from seven districts were in attendance. The agenda included a detailed presentation of the Strategic Plan and focused on how college chapters can implement the plan. Brother Emmanuel T. Brown, Midwestern Regional Assistant Vice President, presented his vision on Alpha Accountability to impress upon the brothers the importance of maintaining high standards that are expected of every brother and chapter. The weekend started with a brotherhood fellowship at Dave and Buster’s restaurant and arcade.
During the weekend of October 3-5, 2008, the 2008 Midwestern Region College Brothers Retreat was held at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL and hosted by Alpha Mu chapter. The Midwestern Regional Assistant Vice President, Brother Mark S. Crain, lead over 40 college brothers in attendance. The weekend started with a reception at Dave and Buster’s Restaurant & Arcade in downtown Chicago and continued with a series of workshops regarding leadership and chapter compliance. Brotherhood fellowship occurred throughout the weekend.
The Midwestern Region held its Field Staff Leadership Summit the weekend of October 2 – 3, 2009 at the Dayton Marriott Hotel in Dayton, OH. Over two-hundred brothers were in attendance including regional staff members, field staff leaders, District Directors, and Area Directors. Also attending the two-day Field Staff Leadership workshop sessions were Alpha Advisors, Chapter Presidents, Intake Coordinators and key chapter leaders. Brother Thomas A. Flynn’s, Midwestern Regional Assistant Vice President, mission was to emphasize leadership and scholastic achievement.
