How is the General President Elected?
According to Alpha Phi Alpha’s General Constitution and By-Laws, The office of the General President is an elective general office that is elected by ballots mailed to each member who is in good standing according to the records of the Executive Director, as of the first (1st) day of April of the year in which an election is held. The general election is in 2012.
- Members will receive a ballot shortly after the 21st day in April of next year with instructions to complete and return.
- The candidate receiving the largest number of votes cast shall be declared elected to the office.
- The elected General President will take office in January 2013 for one term of four (4) years.
